3. Frequently Asked Questions

How does Fair Divider decide who pays what?

Fair Divider computes an envy-free allocation: each participant gets the room they prefer at its price, and the rents always add up to the total you entered. The calculation runs on our servers.

Why is the result not exact to the cent?

The result is fair within a small precision margin you control, and is rounded to the nearest cent. This is documented in our Terms of Service, section 3.

I got disconnected from a multi-device session. Can I rejoin?

Yes. Open the same room link or enter the same room code in the lobby. Your browser remembers your participant identity using local storage, so the division continues from where you left off as long as the session is still active (sessions expire 7 days after creation, or after 2 hours of inactivity in in-memory mode).

Can I delete my division data?

Is Fair Divider free?

Yes, Fair Divider is completely free for personal use. There are no ads, no accounts, and no premium tier.

4. Troubleshooting

The page loads blank or stuck on a loading spinner

I cannot create a room

My participant name appears with an exclamation mark or empty

The session may have lost its connection to the server. Refresh the page; your local storage will rejoin you to the room.

5. Mobile Apps

Native iOS and Android apps are in development. Once released, they will use the same backend and follow the same support process described above. Per-app version compatibility notes will appear here when applicable.

6. Reporting Security Issues

If you believe you have found a security vulnerability, please report it privately to security@fairdivider.com rather than disclosing it publicly. We will acknowledge receipt within 2 business days.
