What Fair Divider is
Fair Divider is a free online calculator that splits a shared cost — typically the rent for a flat or house — among the people sharing it. Instead of dividing the total equally, it prices each room according to what people actually prefer, so the outcome is envy-free: when the division is done, no participant would rather take someone else's room at the rent that person is paying. Everyone ends up with a deal they consider at least as good as everyone else's. The split covers the full total you entered. Although rent is the most common use, the same method works for any situation where a fixed total must be split across distinct, unequal shares.
Fair and envy-free
The fairness guarantee is not a heuristic. Fair Divider computes a fair, envy-free split, so every participant ends up preferring their own room at its price.
Privacy
Fair Divider asks for nothing about you. There is no account, no sign-up, no ads, and analytics only if you opt in (off by default). When a division finishes, its result is kept on our server for seven days as a share link, readable by anyone holding that link. Your browser stores the strictly necessary local storage that keeps a division running, along with your theme, language and consent choices, and, only if you turn analytics on, the cookies Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity set; nothing is sold, shared or used to profile you.
