Fair Divider is a free online calculator that splits a shared cost — typically the rent for a flat or house — among the people sharing it. Instead of dividing the total equally, it prices each room according to what people actually prefer, so the outcome is envy-free: when the division is done, no participant would rather take someone else's room at the rent that person is paying. Everyone ends up with a deal they consider at least as good as everyone else's. The rents always add up exactly to the total you entered. Although rent is the most common use, the same method works for any situation where a fixed total must be split across distinct, unequal shares.
The fairness guarantee is not a heuristic. Fair Divider computes a fair, envy-free split, so every participant ends up preferring their own room at its price. The calculation runs on our servers and is accurate to the cent for identical inputs — an accuracy we verify continuously.
